Chef Charitha Sham

Raised in the south of Sri Lanka, Chef Charitha Sham grew up immersed in a rich culinary tradition, where food was more than nourishment—it was storytelling, celebration, and connection. His deep respect for locally sourced ingredients and authentic flavor profiles was shaped early, influencing his culinary path from the very beginning.

After honing his craft in the competitive kitchens of New York, Charitha fell in love with the fast-paced rhythm and creative energy of the hospitality world. He returned to Sri Lanka to co-found The Avenue in Colombo, where he served as Executive Chef and Director, refining his skills and sharpening his vision for what would become The Arch.

In 2021, Chef Charitha began building his dream restaurant in the historical heart of Galle Fort. By 2022, The Arch opened its doors, offering a bold and elegant take on fusion cuisine in Galle. As both owner and head chef, Charitha leads with a philosophy that marries innovation with authenticity—serving dishes that are as visually striking as they are flavorful.
